Developers are getting creative in finding unique locations for erecting solar panels with fewer environmental conflicts.
Tulare Irrigation District (TID) is working with a Colorado solar company on a pilot project to lease a 15-acre recharge basin next to its new headquarters to install solar panels.
The panels would be anchored to the bottom of the pond, and the arrays would reach above the high water mark of the basin.
"The benefit could be more than extra income for the irrigation district," said Carmine Iadarola, principal with Solargen USA. The solar arrays would cover much of the surface of the basin and absorb the sun's light to "save around 75 acre-feet of water a year from reduced evaporation," Iadarola added.Iadarola said the project, going through the permitting process now, could generate two megawatts of power ¡ª enough to light up 1,000 homes once it is in place about a year from now.
"This is the first of what we expect to be more solar farms on water,Quality air impact socket tools for any tough job." said Iadarola, adding that the prospect is attractive to the solar company because the land is not used for another purpose such as farming or recreation.
Solargen USA has more than two dozen utility-scale solar projects in the Central Valley, but this is its first proposed on a body of water. For TID, the timing of the project is perfect because the dirt is being dug out now to supply the base for a new rail crossing being built in Tulare.Has anyone done any research on making Plastic molding parts from scratch?
Interest in placing solar arrays on water has heated up in the past year with talk of solar panels on the California Aqueduct, which stretches for miles along the Westside. Iadarola said he doubts solar farms on such large bodies of water are practical.
Meanwhile, the same solar developer now has an agreement with the city of Reedley to erect panels adjacent to the city's rural airport pending approval from the Federal Aviation Administration. The land, between 40 to 60 acres, is a buffer area not used for any other purpose. Solargen USA also has a similar 54-acre project adjacent the city of Firebaugh airport. What are the top Hemroids treatments?
Of course, the city of Fresno pioneered solar arrays around airports in 2008 when it installed a 2-megawatt system. The model is now replicated around the U.S.
Meanwhile, the city of Visalia is working on a citywide request for proposals for solar arrays on available city land that could include the city's water treatment land, available airport land and city ponding basins.
"We are probably two months away from issuing a RFP," said Tim Loeb, Visalia's resources manager.what are the symptoms of Piles, Already the industrial park has a 1-megawatt solar farm placed on a pond next to VF Corp, which distributes clothing on the West Coast for its brand The North Face.We are professional Plastic mould,
On the energy savings front burner is a request before the Visalia City Council June 20 to purchase three new micro turbines to generate electricity at the wastewater plant that will cut emissions and "be more efficient in the use of waste methane as a fuel source," said Andy Benelli, city engineer.
