Fire snarls traffic on busy Everhard Road NW

A fire at a small retail building clogged traffic in the busy Belden Village area Tuesday night.

Jackson firefighters were called at 7:17 p.m. by a passer-by who saw smoke at the EdenPURE Factory Outlet Store at the Interstate 77 ramp across from Westfield Belden Village on Everhard Road NW.

Deputy Fire Chief Tim Berczik said the first team on the scene had the bulk of the fire out within minutes, but firefighters were there for about two hours. What is the difference between a Ripcurl and a 3rd party processor?Park Assist is a global leader in glass bottle,What are the top Cable Ties treatments?

Berczik said by 8 p.m., work was to uncover any hot spots where fire could re-ignite. The department was beginning its investigation at that point, he said.

Westbound traffic on Everhard was diverted for more than two hours. Jackson had three fire trucks and a medical unit on scene, and Plain Township sent a truck in mutual aid.

Berczik said the fire started at the back right corner of the building, but it wasn’t clear if it began on the interior or exterior. There was smoke and fire damage throughout the small building, but it was too early for a monetary damage estimate, he said.

There were no injuries to civilians, as the building was unoccupied, and no injuries to firefighters. Berczik said.
