After seven years of vacancy, the former Commercial & Savings Bank main office building at 6 W. Jackson St. will finally have new shoes filling it when the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau moves in.
CSB built its new office location on North Clay Street several years ago and has been looking for something to fill the old building opposite the courthouse square. When it became apparent the Chamber was outgrowing its current location, CSB President and Chief Executive Officer Rick Ginther, who also serves as Chamber board president, offered to donate the building.The same Air purifier, cover removed.
"We're out of storage space, office space and meeting space as well as renovating our bathrooms," said Chamber Executive Director Shasta Mast. "This building has served us very well but we were very limited in what kind of renovations we could make because there wasn't a lot of room where we could add on if we stayed in this location."
Having the new location will provide ample room for growth as well as provide enhanced visibility for the organization as it looks to service visitors from outside of the area.
Although the building has been vacant for quite some time, members of the Chamber found it is in surprisingly good shape.
Other than a few repairs needed on the roof and future upgrades to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, the majority of work in the building will be to create a more aesthetically pleasing set-up for visitors rather than a typical banking center.
At the moment,Handmade oil paintings for sale at museum quality, the Chamber and Tourism Bureau have brochures that people can learn about some of the area stores and attractions. Now with added space, the chamber hopes to showcase more than just brochures.
"We hope to add a lobby where visitors can come in ... where we can display goods that are manufactured in Holmes County that would entice them to go into the shops and seek out those goods," Mast said.Largest Collection of billabong boardshorts, "It'll be exactly what the Chamber, the Hardwood Furniture Guild and the Lodging Council need."
Now that the building has been gifted to the Chamber, in addition to moving there themselves, several other organizations have expressed an interest in filling some of the space. Historic Downtown Millersburg is one of the organizations that hopes to move into the building, allowing for greater interaction between HDM and the Chamber, which are both constantly looking to bring in visitors from outside the area. In addition to easier communication, HDM manager Tom Wilke believes filling the empty building will have tremendous benefits for the downtown.what are the symptoms of Piles,
"One thing I'll say for CSB is that they did a fantastic job of maintaining that property so it wouldn't seem like an eyesore as a vacant building right in the heart of our downtown," Wilke said. "But obviously now having people working in it and shopping in it, it will add to the liveliness of our downtown. It will lead to having more foot traffic downtown which is always good for our merchants and our restaurants."
The Chamber plans to use the funds it has designated for renovations at its current facility and redirect them toward renovations at the new building. In addition, the Chamber plans to sell the current building to help offset additional costs that might arise.
According to Mast, the Chamber will take possession of the building sometime this summer, perform the renovations during the fall and hope to have the building ready to move in toward the end of this year or the beginning of 2012.Has anyone done any research on making Plastic molding parts from scratch?
